Holiday Guide Day 22 of 26: Perfect Pomegranate Old Fashioned with Jennifer Nelson

Happy Friday, y'all!

Jennifer Nelson is back today with a Pomegranate Old Fashioned, which I would totally drink if whiskey didn't make me barf.  Sorry, but everyone's got something they just don't drink.  I'll leave you all to your Old Fashioned-making while I sit over here with a champagne in one hand and pomegranate seeds in the other. Carry on, my friends.  Take it away, Jennifer!

Being more of a whiskey drinker myself, I had fun mixing up this pomegranate old fashioned. Choose a sturdy bourbon or rye, then dress it up with some orange bitters and a homemade pomegranate simple syrup. I make mine by diluting Al Wadi Pomegranate Molasses with a little hot water. While a traditional old fashioned is a little sweet, a pomegranate version leans to tart is a pretty to look at, too. And nothing says happy holidays better than a pretty and delicious drink. Cheers!

Pomegranate Old Fashioned

2 ounces Rittenhouse Rye, or substitute
.5 ounces pomegranate simple syrup (recipe above)
2 dashes Regan's Orange Bitters No. 6

Fill rocks glass with ice, and add ingredients. Using a cocktail spoon, stir until cold.

Garnish with an orange twist and a handful of pomegranate seeds.
